VETERINARY TEAM UTILIZATION GUIDE

Chapter 1: Identifying Opportunities & Making Plans

2

Assessing Practice Utilization

Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency can seem daunting, but breaking down the process into bite-sized pieces can make it more manageable. Many resources are available to help identify opportunities, and brainstorming outside of the hospital is one of the most effective techniques for finding them. Ask your distributor and manufacturer representatives what other hospitals do to increase efficiency.

Use this chapter to identify opportunities that are right for your hospital. Successful implementation comes from creating a solid plan with achievable goals and a timeline.

Read this chapter for the first time to familiarize yourself with the information, assessments, and goals. Don’t focus on completing the assessments and goals; read the materials and notate opportunities. Then, return to this chapter, complete the assessments, and develop SMART goals to pave the roadmap to your success!

What results should you expect from your hard work?

  • Increased staff retention and decreased turnover

  • Loyal team members who have “emotional ownership” of the practice

  • Increased client compliance

  • Increased revenue

  • Improved patient care

  • Improved profitability
